Ooohhhh, good tip. Come to think of it, I have two Singer pinkers. One
that goes on the sewing machine, the other that clamps to a table.
Though I don't know that I'm up for either one of them at the moment.

On a slightly other topic, I'm in a discussion with someone about
dresses we both have made from that fine Indian cotton fabric. Very
light weight, but washes like a handkerchief, and feels so good in the
hot weather. The store where she found her ready-made dress is gone,
and mine came from VCS for a hefty price. Does anyone sell that lovely
cotton by the yard in the U.S.?

I have a pair of Fiskars spring-loaded pinking shears, bought on
recommendation of a friend. You close them on the fabric manually, but
they open automatically, thus needing only half the amount of hand pressure.

How deep is the notch? I like a full 1/8" deep and wide,
anything smaller doesn't prevent fraying, IMHO.

It seems to be 1/8 wide but marginally less than 1/8 deep. By contrast,
my old, heavy-as-lead Wiss ones, which need sharpening which is why I
got the new ones, have a notch a full 1/8 deep and about 3/16 wide. I
bought mine at either JoAnn's or Hancock's. Why not take a look at them
next time you are in either store?

I will look for them next time I'm in TSWLTH, I could
certainly use some assistance in cutting out, my hands ache
after a long day of it.

Thanks!
