Well, my sewing room is covered in bits of foam (old and new) and
vinyl (black - new, and brown - old). It has a musty, old bar smell
of alcohol and smoke (well, makes sense when the old cushions came out
of a restaurant bar, right?). I have a signed contract and accepted
offer on the first half of the job and will be working on the estimate
for the second half tomorrow - have to make muslins of swags as the
windows are all different widths.
This is my first job for a business rather than an individual so I'm a
little freaked about it, however, she offered payment before the
contract was even signed, so that makes me feel a little bit better.
I'm waiting to hear back about which fabric was chosen for the window
swags - there might not be enough of the one that the owner felt the
guys would like, which would automatically make it go to the fabric
that was *her* first choice. Both cost the same per yard, so that
means only one estimate. YAY!!
My project backlog is growing, but then again, with this job, so is my
bank account :-)
I have 3 valances to make for the church plus the clothing for my
kids, but right now, there are bits of foam on nearly every dang
surface AND piled on the floor!! LOL...due date for the cushions is
9/10, so I have to get moving on these things ASAP...
ah well, SO far out of my comfort zone that I am practically shaking
with nerves, but this shouldn't be any more difficult than my
ELizabethan dress...deep breaths and away we go.............

You KNOW that you can handle this with no problems! It will just be the
first one that might cause the most thinking!

Good luck Larisa. After you make the first one, the rest will be a breeze.
Cushions and curtains are easier to fit than people and are not as picky.
Are the cushions going to be vinyl? Do you have the right feet you need
for your machine? Maybe this opens up a whole new door. It should be
more lucrative than sewing garments for real people.
