Hi all you experts.
I was reading a page that Melinda sent the link for at which talks
about designing facings, Circa 1942 style. The thing which caught my
eye was about 7/8 down the page, under the title "Rever with Vertical
Center Front Control" was a section which talks about adding length to
the center front to prevent a jacket from hiking up in front.
does anyone know if this would prevent a shirt front from hiking up?
I'd be willing to try it if you think it would help.

Dear Kitty,
One of the things that makes a top hike up and choke you is that the
shoulder width (not length) is not wide enough. It could also be that
the neck doesn't fit around the base of your neck. The easiest test is
to cut the seam allowance away from a test garment at the neckline,
then lower it by cutting away 1/4 inch at a time, at the center front
until it fits, OR clip vertically at the center front neck until it is
comfortable, then re-curve the neckline to the bottom of the clip.
Remember to replace the seam allowance once it fits.
The shoulder width is best changed by starting with a next size up,
which will probably require other alterations.
