Hey All,

Thought you might like to see what I've been up to. This is for my DF's
wedding. They are combining Hindu and Christian traditions to blend both
of their beliefs. They came up with this symbol and asked if I could do a
banner for them. The banner will hang behind the altar area during the
wedding. Then in their living room after the wedding. ;)

Silk dupioni for all three fabrics. My friend did a sketch of the symbol on
graph paper. Then we made the full sized pattern using one square on the
graph paper for one square on my cardboard cutting board. (1 square = 1")
Then off to the races. I used wonderunder to hold the symbol pieces down.
Then satin stitched the whole design. Figuring out the bottom edge was
some tricky. But we are all happy with the end result. There is a rod
pocket on the back so it can hang that way.

Now all I have left to do before the wedding is make my choli (top to wear
with a sari) alter DD's jacket a wee bit more; hem DS's suit pants and
sleeves. Other than that I'll be sitting on the couch eating bon bons and
painting my toes. NOT!!! LOL

Now I just have to package and mail it so it will be one less thing taking
up room in my suitcase on the plane. ;)

Thank you very much, Juno. I'm really pleased with it if I do say so my own
self. ;)

Forgot to tell in the original post. I put a layer of silk organza in the
middle of the two layers of black dupioni. I wanted it to have a little
more body but I sure didn't want to put a fusible interfacing in there.
Since I knew I wanted to use a sew in, I thought why mess with anything but
the good stuff. ;) Scored some silk organza a few years ago at fabric.com
for ultra cheap. It's purple but since I use it only for interfacing in
really good stuff, it's more than fine. I will be using that on the
neckline of my choli too.

Which I'd better go get cut out!!!

You have earned the bon-bons. That's a lovely banner. Don't forget to
post the picture of you in sari and choli. ;-)

Thank you very much Joanne. I may wait on the bon bons till after the
wedding. ;) I will get pictures of me in the sari, but that will wait
till after the wedding too. I'd much rather have pictures of me wearing it
when someone who knows what she's doing dresses me in the thing. lol It
is Gorgeous stuff. (who could be upset about wrapping up in 7 yards of
silk????) But when I try to put it on myself....well I sorta look like a
two year old tying her own shoes. heh heh There will be folks before the
wedding to help all of us with that though, so it's all good. ;)
