Can anyone help me with machine settings on the 1530? I need the one for
the buttonhole stitch and how to move the needle for zippers. I haven't
sewn for a couple of years and I am lost. Thanks.

I suppose it would be foolish to recommend you consult the users manual.

That's a last resort, Ron. As in, "If all else fails, RTFM."

If she happens to have gotten the machine used, she won't have one.

In that case, the first thing to do after getting it home is
to buy one:
http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=Bernina+1530+manual&aq=f&oq=&aqi=&fp=KxYPMM6r3XA
here's my favorite:
http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Manuals/Bernina_Manuals/1530_Instruction_Manual.htm
In addition to useful information about how to USE the
machine, it will contain invaluable instructions for how to
MAINTAIN the machine.
