It's getting colder around here. When DD wanted to wear her jacket
first time this season I realized the slider on the zipper is missing.
The zipper is such a way that one side goes into the other and the
slider goes up and down (hope I'm clear). Now that the slider is
missing, is there a way I can just replace the slider? I don't want to
replace the whole zipper if I don't have to.

Thanks.

I've seen some zipper repair kits at various fabric stores, depending on
what size you need you may be able to find something.

good luck,

You can replace any part of a zipper, if you can get the part. Do you have
an old slider, maybe off an old coat. It is sure a lot easier than
replacing the entire zipper.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and I've prised open the
edges of a zipper slide and fitted it over the teeth, then closed the
slide with pliers.......do it VERY gently because slides are often made
from an alloy that cracks really easy. Of course, you could do it the
correct way and unstitch both ends of the zip and fit the slide, then
re-stitch.....depends how desperate you are!!! LOL

Slides can be bought in the haberdashery section where zips are sold by
the metre...or check the rag bag, you may be throwing something out that
has just the zip you need.

I have tried this before, with no luck. Used forks, pliers and the original
slider. If you are able to do it, I want to know the trick. Replacing
zippers is so time consuming.
