My suggestion:
Take some of your off cut material, cut a square or rectangle, zig-zag
or otherwise neaten the edges. Then measure the size of the piece (and
make a note of it!) and wash and dry that piece as you are considering
washing the garment. Afterwards see what effect laundering has had on
both the finish and size of the fabric. Then and only then decide on
what you will do with the dress.
