we have a new addition to the family-karlee, a one year old golden
retriever that we adopted through golden rescue..she's a sweetie pie,
loves the kids, loves the old dog.
My sewing this year has been very very limited...i'm hoping to change
that in 2009...anyway, we are at a new barn and i volunteered to make
stockings for all the horses (8 in all). i kept the concept very
simple, knowing i was limited on time.....made out of felt, no
lining. cuff a red, body a green. i used the babylock embroidery
machine to do each pony's name on the cuff. last tuesday (two days
before santa!) i got around to assembling them (nothing like waiting
until the last minute)...
went to grab my favorite machine..my viking 350. Karlee had chewed
the cord from the foot pedal to the machine, in half!!!! thank
goodness not plugged in! went to convert the babylock from embroidery
to sewing...and went to put said foot on machine, and found out i did
not have the thingy to do so...you know, you take off the embroidery
foot and you need to add a piece so the sewing foot attaches/snaps
on. ok, organized i am not.
sigh...had to dig up my 1937 singer featherweight! (ok, my real
favorite, but don't tell the viking!) and the stockings went together
very quickly. if i leave out the procrastination and the looking for
stuff...each one from start to finish (including cutting out and
embroidering name on cuff) was less than 20 minutes. not bad!
next doggie/sewing adventure...had the featherweight still on the
dining room table, unplugged. for christmas, we got Karlee a laser
pointer...she loves chasing that red dot! of course, Katie (now
almost 15) is taking Karlee out to the back yard to play iwth it, but
is sending the dog into a tizzy inside...i'm sure you see where this
is all going...CRASH goes the featherweight to the floor...off takes a
dog running! wiht a kid close behind and a mom yelling!
that featherweight is industructable...nothing can kill it!

omg! What a story. I guess you have a few projects for the new year
(locating a new cord for the viking and organizing your sewing room). I do
hope santa visited the barn and that the horses got something in their
stockings.
