I just got a hand-me-down singer serger from my mom. She hardly used
it. I have threaded it using the 3 threads on the right needle. That
thread through the needle keeps getting caught in the stitching. It
doesn't cut it, it just keeps pulling it further and further as you
serge, not disrupting the stitching otherwise. Any suggestions?

"... threaded it using the 3 threads on the right
needle."??? That description does not correspond with the
threading process for any of the three different sergers I
own.

Do you have the manual? Sounds very much like a threading
error. Re-thread from scratch, following the order for
threading in the manual, using different colored threads for
*each* looper and *each* needle. Do a test. Compare the
results to the illustrations in the manual. That's the
best way I know to diagnose a serger problem. YMMV
