Don't know what brand you have, but since you've already cleaned and
oiled, here's what usually works for me:
1. *new* needle
2. cursing &$#*%
3. *complete* re-thread, following the order in the manual
*exactly*
4. more cursing !&^#)*^#!^%*(
5. trip to local service center
If 1 or 3 works, omit 2, 4, and 5...
