Kate-
I do wonder if your 12 year old dyson was just better made than the
one's made now...kinda like the older sewing machines????? Like I
said, I tried her dyson animal and had to sit back and think
"hmmmmm....why am I NOT falling over with glee at this?". Maybe she
has an "eh" machine?? But as I said...i've yet to meet the vacuum
that makes me swoon.....

Dunno... The spare parts mine had needed over the years (two brush bars
- I *will* keep hoovering up needles with it! and a hose) and the extras
I've bought for it (like the hard floor head for the hose) have all been
of equal quality to the original.

I've met hoovers that had me ROTFLMAO (thank you Roomba!), grinding my
teeth in frustration ( my old Miele), and screaming in agony at the
noise, but not actually swooning with delight. It hoovers floors.
There will NEVER be any delight in that.

Purse, mop or vacuum. I've yet to find the perfect one.

I have a Dyson and it's fine. I don't think I'd buy another one. It's
heavy. It has no headlight which drives me crazy (they couldn't put a 79
cent headlight on a $500+ vacuum???). I don't think it edge cleans very
well. I love the no bags thing.

I used a friend's Oreck and I loved how light it was. Did a good job with
pet hair and did really good at edge cleaning. That no attachment thing is
a deal breaker for me, though. I've had a dozen hand vacs and hated them
all.

In the past, I had a Rainbow with the water tank. It is so awesome when you
pour the muddy water out after you're done. It didn't hold up very well
though. Motor burned up right after a year. I had a Filter Queen canister
for years and years. It was like hauling a dead pig on a rope. It outlasted
me. I donated it to a woman who cleans offices. She loves it. I think it's
still going after 20 years.

So when you find the perfect vacuum, let us all know.

Cindy
