Hi folks,

Haven't been around in a while just started again. (some of you may remember
my "man pants fitting" post of last year).

I got this silly little problem:

I bought this little yellow wax marking square ( meaning that is it yellow,
made of wax , more or less square and used for marking fabric) about
1.5"x1.5" .25" in the middle, tapering to the sides.

I used it to mark a shirt. but it won't come off now. I have washed the
finished shirt twice once in warm once in hot, but the marks are still
showing where made a line for the buttons and buttonholes.

Is there a trick to removing this ? do I have to boil my brand new shirt in
acid or something ?

I don't think I will be using this stuff again but in the mean time ....

HELP !

Jean P.

Try putting some paper towels oveer the mark andpressing with a moderate
to hot iron. Keep changing the paper towels so as not to pupt the wax
back on the fabric.

You've got a wax tailor's chalk, meant for marking wools... press it and
it disappears into the wool fabric with no oily residue visible. Doesn't
work that way on cottons and such, for which chalk is used (they look
alike, except for the shine). Chalk will wash or brush off, the waxy
chalk won't.

About your shirt:
I'd try some of the solvents used to clean up grease on it... work in
some dish soap or shampoo and then pour hot water through it, for instance;
or try a good dry cleaner.

If at all possible, I prefer to use white chalk for marking fabric. Sometimes
the pigment just doesn't want to go away.

On one of Sandra Betzina's TV programs, she said for grease, she uses the
cheapest shampoo in the store. Gosh, I miss her shows almost as much as I
would miss Nancy Zieman if she stopped her shows. Just thinking out loud
tonight.
