Judie,
I'm glad you found a needle that works for you. They are going to be the
jazziest PJ's around

I just looked at the picture. That is nasty stuff to sew. The shiny
parts are glued on. Going through that fabric dulls the needle very
quickly. The glue gums up the needle and thread until the thread
breaks. I lubricate the thread with sewer's aid and clean the gum off
the needle regularly with witch hazel (rubbing alcohol should also
work). I've also been known to gently file damaged parts off the needle
to avoid changing them quite so frequently, though the proper course is
to change your needle very frequently when sewing this stuff.

Betsy,
Maybe this fabric is not the same as what you had. Once I found the
right needle to use, it's been fairly simple. The metallic print doesn't
seem to be glued and I've had no problems with the needle gumming up or
with the thread breaking. I've made 3 pj pants so far, one in a shorter
length with a gathered ruffle and 2 regular length with a blind stitched
hem. I've had no problems finishing the seams with the serger either.
I did use a ball point needle to apply the fold over elastic at the
waist but other than that, the quilting needle is just fine.

Yay!! you got them made. I'm really glad. There's nothing worse then
having a time limit to get things made and have a needle mess you up.
Post pictures of them, please. I bet they're really cute.

thanks for asking! Not pictured is the pair I made for the 3 year old,
they're the same as the lavender pair but size 4 instead of size 10.
