When I was considering the 1 and 1+ just about the time of changeover,
the dealer I was talking with said they were built on the same chassis...
that's all I know.

And yes, there was a 1+ recall in 1999:

from loose pins on a power transformer.

Bernina had the only other recall of a sewing machine listed in the cpsc
search function, in 1978, for type 213 pedals overheating:
