I asked on one of my hiking lists about people making their own wool
sweaters, caps, mittens, socks, etc. The response: "I can go to
goodwill and get a wool sweater for $2."
Bah.
I did get out to an alpaca "spring fling" where they sheared the
alpacas, did some spinning demos, etc. and picked up enough of a
beautiful three-colored worsted weight to make a 6' multidirectional
scarf (or a 4' and a hat). It's almost too pretty to do anything with.
