Hi All.
I am so excited! I just finished the Branching Out Scarf from Knitty.
I used Blue Sky Alpaca & Silk and # 7 US Clover Bamboo needles. I
think I may make it again using # 8's. I'm pretty happy with how it
turned out, and even though there are mistakes throughout, it passes
the Galloping Horse Test.

Beautiful scarf! Thanks for sharing. I wonder if you could widen it to make
more of a shawl? Oh dear, another project in mind.

Thanks Carol.
Originally I did try to widen it to make a shawl, but it was a little
more than I could handle at the time. That's what Jan & I were talking
about earlier in this thread.
There are 19 active stitches, and 3 border stitches on each side. I
wanted to double the scarf so I doubled the active stitches, but not
the border stitches, and added a stitch between the 2 motifs. That
makes 45 to cast on. But I imagine you could make it larger by adding
19 + 1 for every increased motif. This works out well, but my problem
was inexperience with lace and a finicky yarn, so I tried it as
originally written, and there you go! I guess I need to learn to begin
at the beginning.
