Hi group, I wonder if anybody can help me find somewhere in the UK where
I can buy a small carding machine. My partner, Cath, had a quick go on
one at a craft fair and now has asked for one for her xmas present! We
have some Alpaca wool to card ready for spinning and weaving. I have
not told her about it yet so it will be an excellent surprise for her!

Many thanks for any advice,

Best regards,

Dave.

Hi Dave

I can't remember how much it was because it was around 3 years ago, but it
works fine:)

Thanks Ophelia. I have emailed David but it has come back as
undeliverable so perhaps he's changed his email address. Was it a
one-off sale or was that his business I wonder?

There must be somebody in the UK who sells them, or I guess I could get
one imported from overseas if I could find a reliable seller.

Regards,

Dave.

In the US they're called 'drum carders' - maybe you could find a supplier
using that term.

Thanks Tamar, that was a great help. Certainly brings up a lot more
results in Google and eBay. Knowing the correct name for it certainly
helps!

I see my choices are Ashford at £220-ish or on eBay there's a Van der
Have Holland one for £162 inc postage and also a couple of Barnett's.
My inclination is to go for the cheapest but does anybody have any
comments about differences between the 3, Ashford, Barnett or Van der
Have Holland?

Many thanks for all your responses so far, they've all been really
helpful and a tribute to the friendliness of this newsgroup.

Best regards,

Dave.
