Good hopes and outlandishly good promises ... I think us voters were
promised (by all the candidates) everything imaginable that might be
popular. Let's watch that magically happen while decreasing our taxes and
still managing to pay for the safe return of our troops, healthcare for
everyone, business ethics for all our businesses, etc.that they were so
heavily touting.

At least there will be a break from all the non-specific promising for a
while. Then again, some of the "change" and "maverick" skits on Saturday
Night Live, Frank TV and other comedies were pretty hilarious and I will
miss them.

On a strictly local note, to vote I turned into the community center parking
lot past an awful lot of campaign signs for a particular candidate for our
local school board -- hmmm, wonder if that affected my vote the way they
planned? I thought there used to be laws about electioneering and polling
within a certain number of feet of a voting place (including the
grounds/parking lot) even if by local church or teacher's union.

Thank you, Mirjam. Now it will be very interesting to see what the next
four years bring, economically, socially and internationally. The older
I get, the more I know that we will all survive ( hopefully), but not
quite as we had envisioned it.
