I am going to attempt my first felting (actually fulling) project....how
much wool content does the yarn need to felt (full) properly.
I've been told that's is felted when you wash the yarn before knitting and
fulled when you wash the yarn after so the notations just in case I was
incorrectly informed.

100% wool works best though I've seen reports of high wool content
yarn fulling slightly with enough insult.

Felting is what one does with unspun wool.
Wauking is what one does with woven woolens.
Fulling is for knitted wool goods.
I'm sure somebody will correct me, too :D

A while back I asked about some Classic Elite felted merino I had
gotten at a salvage center. I asked what was up with the felted
aspect. Does this mean the wool was felted before spinning?. Does
this mean the yarn might resist fulling? I know, do a swatch...but
really, I got a load of this stuff for next to nothing, and I don't
know what to do with it.

In this context it probably means the yarn was abused to some degree
during production to "felt" it. Whether it'll full or not is
anybody's guess.

In todays knitting , felted items is when you wash after you knit.
Those who have been around know it is not the right term , but , we go
with the flow.
As to how much actual wool you need to do the shrinking , it depends on
how the yarn is spun and how tight you knit.
I have used 25% wool 75% acrylic and it felts some , I also have used
100% wool and 85% wool ,15% mohair and it felts beautifully too.
Testing with a swatch is all I can say for sure. Superwash and acrylic
will not felt and some hard spun wools or bleached wools will not felt
, so each time you need to check. I hope this helps.
