Every Wednesday at work one person will present an interest or hobby of
theirs to the rest of us. It's just a fun thing for us to get together
and do. I want to tell everyone about crochet, but I need to try to
keep it somewhat interesting since I will have a mixed audience! (old &
young, men and women) Does anyone know of any interesting facts about
crochet that I might share? I did find a couple Web pages that lists
some famous people that crochet, that's kinda neat. I'm also going to
bring in a sample square that I am crocheting from plastic grocery bags
:) I will also tell a little about the history of crochet.

Anything else that you can suggest would be great!
Thanks!
Sandy

Well, I am a Medieval Reinacter and I can tell you that as far as
anyone can find <this is after extensive searching through
archaelogical artifats> that crochet is after 1600.
Also - many say that crochet is 'Nun's Work', and quote some important
Museum's History Dept. - again NOT!

Many European Languages don't have a word for crochet, instead they
use the word for knit(ting). This causes confustion and
mis-translating when going into English.

Beyond that I can't help you.
