Everybody i suggest we all Look at our stashes and think how to use up
as much as we can Now this year !!!!
I made various Moebiouses this year , most came from my stashes ,,, i
only added 1-3 balls for a certain color ,,,
Last year i bought a Beautiful Cotton cloth Ideal for asummer dress ,
and in the almost next door Haberdashery shop i saw a think cotton
that had EXACTLY the same color combination as the printed flower on
the Cloth ,,,, thus i had to buy that. But, having known that cotton
thread before it is a bit rough and very thin, works out beter in
crochet than knit , but my heart goes for a knit shirt to match the
intended skirt ,, thuis i am thinking about Patterns ,, maybe i should
go to a summer dress and add the cotton as vest around my
shoulders ,,,,,,,,,
must think , eventually i want some nice things,,,,but won`t slave
about it ...

hi mirjam--
as a new knitter...i have a limited stash! BUT, i just bought a box
of stash off of ebay...here's what's in it:
10 skeins of classic elite's two two yarn (chunky wool....each skein
is 55 yards...not enough for a sweater for me...but perhaps for my six
year old son??)
2 skeins of debbie bliss merino chunky
10 balls of ICE kid mohair....again not enough for a sweater, but
perhaps a vest i think?
two skeins of plymouth yarns handpaint wool--really chunky!
three balls of tahki panda
one skein of lionbrands bolero
four balls of tahki safari
and two small balls of a grey wool.
now...i'm new to knitting...what should we make with all this?
projects for each one...but what???

Betsy ,, if you dare , you could combine the different kinds of wool
into one object. having a sweater or coat of various textures and
materials might be a novelity and pull you to work on it,,
I do mix not only colors but also weights, rough and soft wools ,, it
has a cahrm of it own.
What is it you REALLY NEED in your closet ,, a Sweater ? A Poncho ????

Do the colors go together? If so, you could put in a "rugby stripe"
across the chest and sleeves.

One of the major qualities of mohair is that it will hold its
shape even when the stitches are huge, because of the long tendrils.
That also makes it very hard to rip out! But I had a mohair sweater
in high school that was knit on size 35 needles (think broom handles)
and it was light and warm. 10 balls might be enough for a sweater!
You could start with a vest and add sleeves if there seems to be
enough left.

That sounds like a hat.

If those are all the same weight, you could put them together
as stripes (or double up a thin yarn to go with heavier ones).
If they're fairly fine, you could try a Fairisle pattern.
3+1+4= 8 balls plus some grey, not enough for an adult vest
(unless that bolero skein is huge) but enough for a hat and
mittens or a scarf. Stripes are good and if you separate the
wider stripes from each other with a narrow stripe (one row?)
of the same color, it ties them together.

Thanks for the suggestions M and T!
i'm still learning to knit...so i had bought this lot for the ability
to "expirament" with different fibers....i'm just having fun playing
with it all.
when i get serious about this new stash...believe me, i've printed out
both of your responses to refer to later on....
