I was starting on my first tam, after deciding to go simple with just a
few colors. I chose red, petal, and natural. After knitting a few rows
of red, my delayed reaction brain remembered that red is notorious for
bleeding.
Will the bleeding stain the natural yarn? Is there a way to prevent the
bleeding before knitting with the yarn? Should I save the red to be an
accent color instead of a main color?

I wouldn't worry too much about it, BB. Just "set" the colours after
knitting by rinsing the tam in a mixture of vinegar and cold water.

Elaborating: ICEY cold water, vinegar, and you could also add a cup of
salt.

Thank you Katherine and Noreen! I knew this had been discussed before,
but I just couldn't remember what was said about the best way to deal
with it. I shall carry on :)
Oh, and I got the new Knitpicks Options needles (16 in circs) to try out
with making tams. The first row was the least aggravating first row I
have ever done.

Thanks, Noreen, I knew that one of the dyers would be able to elaborate
on my suggestion.
