It looks to me like that sweater was made for someone twice her size but it
wouldn't look much better even if it fit her.

Ok were is the [V] says it's a V-neck sweater ;-)

the V was too deep so the model is pulling it off her shoulder to keep the
photo "modest"

I agree with you in that the sweater was so ill fitting they had to
creatively pose the model to try and hide the errors. I've been the
victim of bad patterns in the past until I learned to examine the
photos of the finished items more closely. The V is not only too
deep, it's too wide, and there doesn't seem to be any edging to keep
it in place, so it looks like if she let go of the back her entire
chest (what there is of it on that anorexic stick) would be exposed.
Plus it's an ugly shapeless bag with sleeves that are too long, so
she's wadded it up behind her back in order to try and make it look
like it's got actual shaping. But, the arm you can still see has the
hand totally covered! You wouldn't be able to do anything in that
waste of yarn except stand around trying to keep from exposing your
chest, quite a challenge when your hands are lost in the sleeves...

I think that pattern would be better served being turned into an
afghan panel.
