I'm with you there. Complicated patterns look much better on solid or very
muted variegations. I have a really nice Noro pattern book that has some
very simple patterns - it's called "Simply Noro" and it's by Jane Ellison.
There are 9 sweater designs and 5 accessory designs (pillow cover, afghan,
bag, hat and scarf. Here's the description on the inside front page....
"Simply Noro are easy patterns using simple knitting stitches to create
original unique garments."
One of the patterns I used was a hooded cardigan with a dropped shoulder.
The original design called for toggle buttons, but I put in a zipper, and
used Patons Up Country yarn which I bought at a great price because it's
been discontinued. I haven't bought any Noro yarn yet, but will do when I
find a design that just begs me to use it (smile).
