I had to knot the scrap yarn to make it into balls and get a regular
pattern. I have five balls of roughly 350 yards apiece -- a little hard
to leave un-knotted.
I am not a vest kind of person, so I am either going to make a
cardigan-type sweater or else a poncho (a different type than my last
two. I'm thinking of either doing the Quick Country Jacket at the
bottom of this page
http://www.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternFinder.fcgi?language=&store=%2Fstores%2Flionbrand&search=1&searchText=country+jacket&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&submit=search
or the Danbury Hooded Jacket (hand-knit, not loom-knit) on this page
http://www.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternFinder.fcgi?language=&store=%2Fstores%2Flionbrand&search=1&searchText=danbury+jacket&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&submit=search
Of course, I may chicken out and do the One-Stitch jacket instead
http://www.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/patternFinder.fcgi?language=&store=%2Fstores%2Flionbrand&search=1&searchText=one-stitch+cardigan&submit.x=0&submit.y=0&submit=search
but it doesn't look like it would be as warm as something with a collar
and a closer neckline.

I've been drooling over that Danbury jacket for years even before I was
brave enough to think about knitting without my knitting machine.

I know, I know. I just need to see if I have enough of this yarn for
it, because doing something with this yarn comes next (can't afford to
buy any more yarn until I find more work, and all I can do is use what's
in my small stash). Besides, you know how us obsessive-compulsive
perfectionists are -- we have to have the PERFECT yarn for the
project... which is why it takes me forever to decide on what to work on.
