I'll be going there for training in a week and a half, but I'll have my
evenings and weekends free. Are there any good yarn shops I need to stake
out? Payday occurs while I'm out of town! :o)

Austin here but I know the San Antonio yarn scene.

Yarn Barn of San Antonio, which is actually in Olmos Park (one of those
20-acre burgs that maintains its political autonomy while using all the
Big City Services), off of Hildebrandt near the zoo. They close early,
however, so plan to skip some training unless you'll be there on
Saturday. Fabulous bookstore-in-a-store, sale boxes, single-page
pattern heaven and needles out the wazoo.

Check out Jason's for lunch, it's near the zoo and easy to get to from YB.

Yarnivore is newish, on NW Military Parkway. Worth a stop if you'll be
in the area but if you have to choose between YB and YV, go to YB.

AND, if you happen to be a handspinner you might want to look up Bill
Wyatt and stop by his shop for a ... spin :D Again, not convenient to
much but he's accomodating as he lives near the shop.

Hi Stella. Just an FYI:

San Antonio is nowhere near Plano, Dallas, Hurst or Spring. Texas is a
big state - we've got counties that are larger than some New England
states. Heck, some of them are larger than a few European countries I
can think of.
