hello,

I am hoping someone here can help me to interpret this pattern instruction.
it is from Rowan Magazine Knitting & Crocheting, Book #29, spring nd summer
2006, the pattern is Carolina on page 17.

There are eight rows repeated in sleeves pattern, and in every other row in
the pattern, you do a double yarnover. In the next row, they say to "K1 P1
into the double yarnover of previous row".

After the double yarnover, I end up with two added stitches on the needle
(which is in effect one big yarnover, just looped twice around the needle).
When it says to K1 P1 into it, I don't know if I should knit into BOTH of
the loops, or just into one. They'll result in different effects, because
if you knit through both loops, the loop you are knitting into (the yarn
over) is smaller. If you knit into one, it leaves a larger lace hole.

i'm wondering what other lace kniters would do with this.

barbee. . .

I would k1 into the first loop and p1 into the second loop.
HTH,
Noreen
PS, practice it on a swatch!!!!

You k1 into the first loop, then p1 into the second loop. It's not
supposed to leave a really large hole; after you get a frew rows done,
you'll see the effect.

I've learned something new today!

I've not come across a double yarn over yet so thank you all for this.
I shall remember it for future reference. :-)
