Can someone that has crocheted with a specialty yarn give me some tips? I
am experienced at crochet, but find this yarn impossible!!! - I bought
some 'feathery' or 'fun fur' type yarn and cannot keep track of the
stitches I have made - they just disappear in the 'feathers'. I am using
a simple pattern.
Thanks!!!!

That's normal for the novelty yarns. Using a large hook will help. Work
in good light. You might try stranding it with a smooth yarn to help you
see the sts better.

No matter the size of the hook, it is next to impossible to see your
stitches. I bought some and decided to make scarves from mine. Double
crochet stitches and I just crochet "between" the stitches. I had to keep a
count to make sure I was dc'ing the same amount across every row. I will
NEVER buy that yarn again!

I saw a crochet st pattern someone suggested for Homespun when there was
a similar problem not being able to find the sts. It was something like,
sc, ch1, sc, ch1 across, then the next row do the sc in the ch1 space.
Or probably dc would work better, not so dense, but doing the sts in the
chain space made it easier to see and get the hook into. Oh, I found it

Thanks for the great suggestions - They all sound very helpful. Glad to
hear I am not the only one that has difficulty crocheting with the yarn -
Once I finish my project, I think I'll probably be taking the advice
'never buy that yarn again!'
