I OVE the way you think! I agree about the non-birthdays, too!
(had an Aunt who ALWAYS gave us TWO birthdays, our own and a shared.. in other
words,
sister got a present on MY b-day, I got one on HERS, and then the communions,
confirmations, graduations, etc were shared too!)
Thanks,
Noreen

Noreen,
Congrats on your upcoming Silver Anniversary.
If you and Don really don't want a party for your anniversary, perhaps just
a dinner out with you and the girls would be your kind of celebration (I'm
assuming that the girls you mentioned are your daughters, and not your
nieces). If your sister lives long-distance, she certainly wouldn't expect
an invite to a dinner, would she? Expecting her to come so far for dinner
would be a bit much(yes, I *am* being facetious, but it would make a good
answer to the "Why wasn't I invited" type of remark.) Or perhaps some sort
of cruise for just the two of you, and renew your vows onboard?
As for your birthday spa day, go for it! (Perhaps your sister would like to
chip in for that gift?)
Definitely, go for a spa day, or something else you normally wouldn't do, or
would put off doing for later. You deserve it.
Best wishes,
Carey in MA

Carey N.. . .
Yes, the girls ARE our daughters, well, Don's daughters, my step's... although I
DO
consider them 'ours'
(after all, Kelley was *just* 3, Christy was 6 1/2 when I came onto the scene,
then
Kelley was 5 and Christy 9 when we hitched - they both stood up for us, too!)
You hit the nail on the head regarding distance, if a party were in WI, *we'd*
have to
travel, if it were in TN, everyone *else* would have to travel.
As it is, Kelley and family live in FL, Christy lives in WI now (she WAS in GA
for 13-14
years, darnit!), so even *their* coming to spend the big day(s) with us is a
stretch....
I agree that something one normally doesn't do is a great plan, and believe me,
I've
DREAMED of a spa-day for aeons!!
Thanks!
Hugs,
Noreen

Mine is also coming up. We will be at home for it, simply because it
can't fit into our
vacation plans. As for what we will do - probably go out for dinner,
alone, and talk
about the last twenty-five years, and the next twenty-five. We are
going to Niagara
Falls in August, though, so we will make that count. Renewing vows?
Not this year,
but there ia a tentative plan for a triple vow renewal ceremony next
yeat, after
three of us in my class are ordained.
